I work alongside a small number of practitioners and providers whose work complements my own. These are people I use myself and refer clients to.

Thermography Scotland

Why they are here

Thermography gives a picture of what may be happening in your body today. It measures temperature differences, which can indicate inflammation, a factor linked to many chronic conditions.

And the report does something conventional imaging does not. It goes through the body area by area, sets out what it finds, and suggests possible contributing factors for each.

That is what makes it useful. Not a single finding in isolation, but a picture of the whole body with a possible explanation attached to each part of it — a useful starting point before deciding what to do next.

Nothing invasive. No radiation, no contact.

Thermography is not available on the NHS. I have used it myself for over ten years to support my health.

About them

Thermography Scotland carry out thermal imaging scans at their Edinburgh clinic and at mobile clinics, and provide a written report. Having received many thermography reports from different companies and laboratories for my own health over the last ten years, I have found theirs to be the most impressive and comprehensive by far.

Their clinic is beside Edinburgh Park tram station, about twenty minutes from Princes Street.

How I use it

Where a client has had a scan, the findings give us a starting point — a picture of what is happening in the body before we discuss food, specific organ and system issues, sleep, stress or anything else. It is a far better beginning than a conversation alone.

I take them through what the findings mean in practice: what to reduce, what to increase, and where to put their attention first, as well as which professionals can help them further.

What it is not

Thermography is not a diagnostic test and does not replace medical screening. What it offers is a picture of where inflammation is present, which is a useful starting point for prevention work.

Connect Spinal Health

Why they are here

My own thermography report highlighted musculoskeletal issues, and I received a personal recommendation for Connect Spinal Health.

Dr Feltoe, the chiropractor, uses a (w)holistic approach — he listens, assesses thoroughly, and looks for the source of a problem rather than treating where it happens to hurt. That is the same principle I work on, from a different perspective, and it is why the two fit together well.

In my own experience, Dr Feltoe has improved my mobility and posture within a relatively short space of time. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

About them

Connect Spinal Health was founded in Leith in 2003 by Dr Andrew Feltoe. He is registered with the General Chiropractic Council and the practice follows the standards of the Royal College of Chiropractors, holding its Patient Partnership Quality Mark.

The practice was named Chiropractic Clinic of the Year for Edinburgh in the Scotland Prestige Awards for both 2025/26 and 2026/27. In 2023, Dr Feltoe also received a Donor Recognition Award from the Scottish College of Chiropractic for his dedicated support of the profession.

The practice offers gentler instrument-assisted adjustments as well as manual ones, which suits older or more sensitive clients, along with on-site digital X-ray and massage therapy.

They also have a full treatment salon alongside.

Healing Hands Edinburgh — The Reiki School

Why they are here

I believe in energy, and in encouraging good energy throughout the mind and body. One of the ways I do this is through Reiki, a practice working with universal energy.

I have found Maija’s work improves mind and body wellbeing, and a sense of self. She is skilled, and generous with what she knows.

As such, I recommend Healing Hands Edinburgh.

Allison Ridley Psychology

Why they are here

Many of life’s issues can stem from trauma and stress. A conventional way of handling this is through counselling; however, counselling may not be the best fit for everyone.

A lesser-known approach is EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, which is delivered only by trained professionals. EMDR is recommended in NHS guidance for post-traumatic stress, and can be an effective way of processing trauma.

For support with processing trauma, I recommend Allison Ridley.

About them

Allison Ridley is a clinical psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, and is also trained as a psychotherapist. She has specialist training in EMDR and Cognitive Analytic Therapy, and worked in the NHS for 30 years, latterly as a consultant psychologist in adult mental health, including treating the effects of trauma.

She offers individual therapy for adults, in person at a clinic in Haddington, East Lothian, and online. A free 15 to 20 minute phone call is available first, to discuss whether she is the right fit for you.
